What does D.A. mean to me?
As a senior approaching her final semester at Dominican Academy, it's hard to find the right words to discuss how much this school has truly given me.
Since arriving here, I've been able to try my hand at previously terrifying activities (performing on stage in front of an actual audience, public speaking, and event leadership to name a few), travel to a new country without my immediate family, have my mind stretched further than I thought possible by my teachers as I've looked to find where my passions lie, and (most importantly) become more myself in a community of students and faculty alike who have never faulted me for doing so.
Even these opportunities represent only a small fraction of what my experience has been. All I can definitely say is this:
Your four years of high school can be life-defining, (hopefully) complete with endless chances for academic, social, and personal growth. I am leaving D.A. as someone who would likely be unrecognizable to 13 year old me - in the best way possible. I am happy with the person I have grown into and ridiculously thankful to the people of 44 E 68th Street who have helped me become this person. I don't think I would've grown as tall anywhere else.
Now more than ever, I am also thankful to every person that allows us to open our doors every morning.
Thank you for your support of Dominican Academy! Just remember the countless girls in this building who are able to discover who they are and who they want to be, all because of your help and positive sentiment. ♥
