BENEFITING: VILLAGE MOUNTAIN MISSION
EVENT DATE: Jul 08, 2014
We are a group of 14 students and adults from Ohio who are going on a mission trip to the Dominican Republic in July of 2014 through the Village Mountain Mission organization. While there, we will build a new house for a family in the poverty stricken remote villages of Luperon, Dominican Republic. The family is chosen by the mission organization based on need. Most families in these villages live in shacks built with branches and palm leaves on the roof. We tear down the old house and build a new house with concrete block walls, wood doors/windows, and a tin roof. We sleep in hammocks in an open air shelter with no electricity and limited running water to immerse ourselves in their culture and to experience what it is like to live with only the absolute necessities. The total cost for the trip is $1200 per person. A few of us have been on the trip before and have included some pictures of the house we build and the wonderful Dominicans we work with. The trip is life-changing for all who are involved! The most amazing part of the experience is how humble, happy, and blessed the members of the villages are. Please help us build another house for a true family in need!
