Organized by: Candice Nez
Dominic is among one of the students invited to Take Part in Junior National Young Leaders Alumni Conference in Boston, Massachusetts this summer.
Boston, Mass. – Outstanding middle school students from across the United States will take part in an extraordinary leadership development experience, the 2014 Junior National Young Leaders Alumni Conference: Foundations of Leadership II, an Envision program. The program provides a historical view of leadership and encourages young scholars to continue to develop their own leadership skills and strategies for success in the 21st century.
“This is an exceptional group of young scholars distinguished by their academic excellence, past participation in leadership programs and prospects for future leadership potential,” said Marguerite Regan, Ph.D., the dean of academic affairs for the conference. “In addition to diving further into our
nation’s rich history in Boston, scholars will be challenged to build upon their prior experiences and further their understanding of key leadership characteristics such as courage, character and perseverance.”
All the students invited to the conference are alumni of elementary school and middle school programs. Many are past participants of the Junior National Young Leaders Conference: Foundations of Leadership II, an Envision program held each year in Washington, D.C.
The six-day conference for sixth-, seventh- and eighth-grade students allows emerging young leaders to take part in fun and exciting workshops, and participate in simulations to delve deeper into the fundamental aspects of leadership and how those important traits are connected to qualities embraced
by history’s greatest men and women. As part of their educational journey, students will visit significant historical sites such as Plimoth Plantation, the home of the Mayflower II, the town of Salem, Boston’s Freedom Trail and Lexington and Concord.
“They will learn about the different historic figures and events that helped shape America, giving them a greater appreciation of the country’s earliest beginnings and our future path,” Regan said.
