"PFCs (water-repellent chemical coatings) from various types of clothing can accumulate in the tissues of fish and other wildlife as they consume contaminated food and water - building up a dose that can become harmful. Essentially, they don't degrade" - Dr Andrew Sweetman, from the Lancaster Environment Centre.
This is a campaign to raise an awareness about unnecessary littering of clothes in and around the UK's oceans and this will be my plan to face this issue with my trustee litter picker, a set of gloves, protection goggles, a onesie and a pair of wellington boots to limit water-pollution around 25 of UK's littering hotspots. In addition if the littered clothes are undamaged, they'll be cleaned, washed and sent to various charities around the UK to make aware of this rising issue. Developing a recycling routinely habit and create an environmentally caring future for tourists, pending residents and British nationals.
