Imagine a classroom. Nothing fancy, just your standard school room. What's the first thing you see?
For many children in Liberia, all they see is an empty room. This is unacceptable. At bare minimum, children need a place to sit and learn.
More Than Me uses education as a catalyst for transformative social change for every girl in Liberia. Our school, the MTM Academy, is a free, K-6 Ministry of Education accredited private school providing an education, holistic wrap-around services, and basic infrastructure like solid walls, roofs, and chairs, to the most vulnerable girls in West Point and Central Monrovia aged 5-17.
Because of our promising evidence of impact, the Ministry of Education has asked us to partner with them to replicate our model in 30 Liberian schools and add capacity to the ministry to meet their priorities. (Learn more about our pilot program here.)
One of the first steps to adding capacity to these schools is basic infrastructure development...like CHAIRS.
This holiday season, we’re asking you to donate the cost of a chair, which represents the massive need in Liberian schools. Your donation will support our students at the More Than Me Academy and our partner schools, including chairs, teachers, and everything they need to learn and be healthy.
See how far your donation will go:
- $35 the cost of one chair (includes labor, materials, & transportation)
- $350 a row of 10 chairs
- $1,750 a whole classroom (50 chairs)
- $12,250 an entire K-6 school! (7 classrooms)
And our final goal…
- $367,500 to fill 30 K-6 schools with chairs
Will you help us by donating $35, the cost of one chair, for a child?
