On May 6th, 2018 I will be participating in the Pittsburgh Half Marathon. Personally, this is an exciting challenge for multiple different reasons. First, it is a bucket list goal of mine to someday compete in a full marathon and participating in this half marathon is the first step to accomplishing that goal.
More importantly, this race gives me a platform to speak about a topic that has a lot of meaning in my life. In the Spring of 2006 my uncle, Mike Proud, became very ill and was informed the only way to improve his health would be a liver transplant. In July of 2006 the good Lord answered all of our families prayers as he was blessed to receive a new liver. Even though the surgery was successful Mike still faced multiple challenges on his road back to recovery. Mike met these challenges with great courage and toughness which was no surprise to our family since he is a true American Hero being a Vietnam War Veteran.
This surgery gave Mike the ability to spend many more cherished years with his family such as experiencing more family celebrations weddings, graduations, etc. There are many more life changing stories such as my uncle's that are made possible due to organizations like Donate Life America as well as incredible people who are organ donors. Therefore I am running on behalf of this organization to help bring awareness to this organization as well as raise money so they can continue to impact lives in ways our family's life was impacted.
Your donation not only acknowledges the need for organ donation but your awareness and willingness to participate will enable organizations like Donate Life America to save more lives.
Thanks for your time,
