THE STORY:

Calling on Your Support for Democracy and Justice in Guinea in 2012

Dear Alliance Guinea Members,

Over the past two years we have been inspired by the monumental shift in Guinea's path towards a more democratic and just society. In the face of adversity, Guineans and friends of Guinea like you have chosen to fight for the right to freedom while respecting differences. The cause of justice and unity grows stronger with each one of your actions.

In 2011, Alliance Guinea accomplished a great deal with very little resources. Our entirely volunteer team has kept members updated on developing stories from Guinea, applied pressure to the government of Guinea to hold legislative elections as soon as possible, and questioned President Condé directly on his respect for human rights. And our landmark radio show on September 28, 2011 with special guests including Corinne Dufka of Human Rights Watch again demonstrated Alliance's unique contributions: facilitating well-informed, civil dialogue between diverse members of the Guinean and friends of Guinea community to promote positive change. We are truly one of the very few wholly neutral, non-partisan organizations of Guineans and others out working to build a new Guinea for all Guineans.

But, to keep this work going, we need your support now more than ever.

Today, we are asking you, the members of Alliance Guinea to give what you can - even $10 will help - toward the goal of keeping our Alliance strong and poised for action in 2012.

We know that small donations from many of you will get us to our modest goal of $1,500. Such essential financial support will enable Alliance Guinea to pursue new initiatives in 2012 such as citizen monitoring of upcoming legislative elections and the creation of a exciting new cyber Communication and Mobilization Center for civil society activists in Conakry. Plus, your gift is eligible to be deducted from your taxes for 2011 if you give by 31 December 2011! (we’ll send out donation letters in early 2012, we’re just waiting for our paperwork back from the IRS to allow us to send you tax-deductible donation letters).

If you are able to give, you can donate through our PayPal Donation Page (http://tinyurl.com/Donate2Alliance2012) or by check to:

Alliance Guinea, Inc.
315 Flatbush Avenue
#531
Brooklyn, NY 11217

Whether or not you can give today, we want you to be involved in 2012. We are poised today to make a big difference in Guinea. In the months to come, Alliance Guinea will launch more ways to support Guinea's democratic process in 2012. If you are as excited as we are about the prospect for change in 2012, we urge you to join us by signing up for our email list to receive information on how to get involved:
