THE STORY:

10 years ago my good friend Thomas Carley came to me and told me he was sick. When I looked at him he looked as he always did. He was physically fit and seemed like his happy out going self. Little did I know I would watch his health rapidly decrease. While attending his Children's baptism I knoticed something different about my friend. He was withdrawn and looked very tired. when I confronted him he said he was just fine. I saw less and less of my friend after that knowing he was sick I continued to reach out to him. In early september 2009 I was able to see him and I was very concerned. He was trying to hold on but knew he was sick. This is the first time I ever saw fear in the eyes of my good friend. Later that week I received a call from his wife saying  that Thomas was losing his fight with liver disease.  On september 5th Thomas' liver failed! We all thought that he was going to die but in the early morning hours he received a call saying there was a liver for him.  Since my friend Thomas got his liver he has done amazing things. I have been able to share these amazing moments with him and his family.  Since we were kids he has always got me involved with fun and crazy things. Now he has convinced me to join him in this Marathon. I'm honored that he has asked me to join in. To see my friend as sick as he was and think I would never see him again. To watching him running in marathons. I would have never seen my friend again if not for someone deciding to be an organ donor.  Thomas had to wait for a long time on the transplant list and was very sick. I would like to raise awareness about the need for organ donors.

So please make a donation to Donate Life Connecticut.

Did you know 1 organ and tissue donor can SAVE and IMPROVE the lives of 75 people?

Donate Life Connecticut is dedicated to increasing the number of registered organ and tissue donors through outreach and education. Our organization is Volunteer driven...people that have received an organ/tissue transplant, donor families whose loved ones gave the gift of life, living donors, friends and family. We are all passionate about sharing our stories and raising awareness.

Right here in Connecticut more than 1,260 men, women and children wait for a life-saving transplant...and more than 114,000 Americans wait nationwide. Unfortunately, 18 people will die every day simply because an organ did not come in time. We want to change these statistics. More registered donors means more transplants...MORE LIVES SAVED.

THANK YOU for JOINING OUR TEAM! THANK YOU for supporting our cause!

Together we can raise awareness! Together we can save lives!
