BENEFITING: Lupus Foundation of New England, Inc.
On Friday August 12th, 2016, my mother Shawnette Day passed away suddenly at the young age of 43. Although unsure of the cause of her death, she would have wanted a donation in her name made to the Lupus Foundation.
My mother suffered from Lupus starting at the age of 15. After almost dying in the hospital before doctors could figure out what was going on, she was finally diagnosed with Lupus. She has suffered greatly in her life from this mysterious disease.
After having her beautiful children, life seemed to be getting better for her. She was in remission, healthy, and raising us kids. Happy as could be working as a part-time hairstylist, she did everything in her power to make sure she could support us.
Sometime upon us entering middle school, Lupus flare became more common. She started to get sicker, and new issues from her Lupus arose. She had been in a medically induced coma, suffered two heart attacks, hemolytic anemia (Lupus destroys newly produced red blood cells), debilitating joint and back pain and much more, all due to Lupus.
My mother was a fighter through it all, though. She was the kindest person I had ever met. She would give you anything you needed, and not ask for anything in return. She our beautiful mother (ages 25, 23, 22, 21), was a second mother to many of our friends, a wonderful daughter to her loving parents, an aunt, godmother, niece, cousin, etc., and most inportantly the greatest friend anyone could ever ask for and have the pleasure of knowing. I kindly ask for a donation in any amount to the Lupus Foundation of New England. All proceeds go directly to this organization. Please help solve the cruel mystery of Lupus
