Andrea Agostinetti

Many people know Donna as a mother, daughter, sister, aunt, wife, & friend who would do anything for anyone. She was always there to help others. She is married & has two sons. She is devoted to her family & most recently had been caring for her husband with his battle with cancer. She worked for 15 years for Mc Neil pharmaceuticals & most recently was working p/t for Purple Heart.
In March of '10 she suffered from a Brain (cerebral) aneurysm, well actually 4. For those who have been following her recovery from the beginning know that after the initial 3 she was on her way to recovery. She was in awesome spirits & extremely talkative. To everyone's surprise it was found that she actually had a fourth aneurysm behind one of the repaired aneurysms, just above the carotid artery. This 4th aneurysm was more than likely the ruptured aneurysm which began this whole ordeal. She had to undergo yet another procedure to coil the 4th aneurysm. This one was the bleeder & caused significant damage although through MRI & CT scans it was found that no damage was evident on her brain stem and there was no evidence of a stroke occurring. This was extremely positive news although a very tough road of recovery lye ahead. Days following the coiling she experienced spasms in her blood vessels caused by the bleeding that had occurred. Donna was placed on a ventilator (although breathing on her own) for precautionary measures. She was brought in for procedures daily sometimes more then once a day for over a week to calm the spasms. Donna worked through the spasms & treatments & was transferred out of ICU with a tracheotomy & feeding tube in place.
Donna's husband is self employed accountant & paid out of pocket for health benefits. All coverage ran out after such a lengthy hospital stay. Donna entered a state ran nursing facility in the beginning of May. Donna is not accepted to any post stroke rehabilitation because she is considered stage 1 acute care.
The nursing home that she is occupying denies therapy to medical assisted patients. Her sons have been working with her daily to ensure that she does not experience muscle atrophy & is continuing to work on her skills. In 2 weeks of being in the home she has made huge improvements. She can wave, kiss, follow basic commands. This all from her own will & determination with the help of family. Imagine the progress she may be making if she had the proper care & rehab. Please help us make this a possibility.
