BENEFITING: METRO IAF INC
The Do Not Stand Idly By campaign believes gun manufacturers must innovate on safety and improve their practices in order to reduce the 90 gun-related deaths that occur each day in the United States. In just a few years, manufacturers could compete with one another in the area of smart-gun technology. Right now, manufacturers could sever ties with the small number of gun dealers that supply most of the nation’s crime guns.
To incentivize these life-saving changes, the largest customers of the gun industry – local, state and federal governments – must apply pressure.
DNSIB has persuaded top officials in 82 cities, counties and states across the U.S. to press gun CEOs for action. And through two years of intensive work, we moved President Obama to join this effort by directing federal agencies to push for the development of safer gun technology.
The money we raise in this effort will allow us to deepen our relationships with these public officials, broaden the list, and build more power to press gun companies to play their part in reducing gun violence in America.
The Metro Industrial Areas Foundation and its network of faith and citizen organizations launched DNSIB in 2013.
