This year: Success was defined not by hitting the top, but by being in the game ....
June 13, 2016
BENEFITING: St. Jude Children's Research Hospital
EVENT DATE: Jun 08, 2016
I've never [thankfully] needed to rely on the services of St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, but I have always been inspired by their commitment.
On June 8-10, 2016, I will attempt to summit Mount Rainier near Seattle, Washington. At 14,411-feet, it is one of the tallest peaks in the USA, and Washington's "High Point".
Come join and cheer on the climbing team without the hassle of roping in, stepping into crampons or learning how to use an ice axe to self belay. I'm self-supporting my gear, travel and mount guides so every dollar donated will go to St. Jude.
I'm asking for a donation to St. Jude for every foot of altitude I look to hit ... At best, a successful summit to 14,411' is "50/50" with weather, avalanche, "mountain sickness" and other adversity to overcome. But maybe, with God's willing, your support and sucking thin air with every footstep, I may just make it over the glaciers and kick it in to the Summit....
Consider a "tenth a penny a foot" ($14.44 )[tax deductible] commitment to St. Jude's..... Or "a penny a foot" $144.10 .... or you can do a fixed donation.
I'll post photos of the climb sometime after June 12th.
In closing, on behalf of the great work that St. Jude Children's Research Hospital does, Thank You for your support and consideration.
