Let Us Change Your Perspective...Keep Moving Forward!
March 08, 2016
My name is Idris Rahmaan, brother of innovator and drift enthusiast, Karim Rahmaan. Although you may not recognize his name, Karim was a force to be reckoned with. He was the most motivated drifter amougst his fellow drifters and one of the most passionate humans I have ever known. His dedication to his craft was insurpassible considering the short time he was involved in the industry. His futile motivation and consistent persistence to perform and exceed his own expectations was indescribable.
On April 17th, 2015, Karim M Rahmaan was unexpectedly taken from us. He was involved in a automobile accident on Interstate 465 South, directly following the rush hour traffic. He was ripped from this earth by a man that was high on illegal substances and alcohol. Although his toxicology levels were below the legal limit of 0.08% when he struck my brothers car, his drug levels were off the charts.
I will never forget my brother Karim and will be forever touched by his passion but this is not enough. His life and legacy needs to be celebrated and lived on through motivating those who he would have inspired and mentored. I want to harness his energy and use it to inspire the next generation of car enthusiasts to follow their dreams in order to exceed the expectations that my brother Karim set for himself and others.
Karim and I shared a passion for cars and racing, which led to the creation of "TapNScrape Motorsports", a company geared towards the integration of racing and the community. Before starting this business, Karim attended Lincoln College of Technology in West Palm Beach, Florida. From this point, he transferred to a specialty college in Lima, Ohio (UNOH) in order to further his studies and gain more technical knowledge. He graduated with a diploma in High Performance Technology. He had a passion for mechanics and function which led him to become an active attendee of various autocross events through his college. His specific interest in drifting grew and, naturally, he began to gain the necessary skills in driving which led to the inception of "TapNScrape Motorsports".
From that moment, he knew he wanted to build his own drift car. His first project was a Nissan 1993 240SX VH45 swapped, the perfect beginner drift car. Within two years, he had the car nearly complete and functional. He attended events with MDU/State of Drift/Drift Indy, which were positioned within the Midwest.
On April 17th, 2015, after 6 years of dedication and hard work, Karim was on his way to attend a drifting event in Nashville, Tennessee. Around 8pm that evening, Karim and his close friends were traveling safely on the highway when they decided to pull over. They needed to strap down the drift car they were towing for safety reasons. This is the moment life would change forever. My brother was struck and killed by a negligent driver. The silence is ever so loud.
I can still hear the phone ring. I was the only one in the city of Indianapoils at the time of Karim's fateful passing. Unbenouced to me, local news channel Fox 59 reported a personal injury crash and as my friends learned of the accident, it became more difficult. Needless to say, I was absolutely heartbroken.
This fundrasier is to celebrate my brother's life but most of all to keep TapNScrape a living reality. I plan to host charitable events across the country, bringing the community together and be able to gain enough support to start a foundation in his name. "Dont Drug and Drive (D.D.D.)" will be the most proactive way to motivate and uplift the present / future generation of automotive enthusiasts community and abroad.
We as brothers started on the track...most of all, we united as a team. This is where we hope, plan and WILL take our focus back.
Thank you in advance and we appreciate the time taken to read and understand our struggle. The pain our family and friends are going thru is just a stepping stone in the right direction. The happiness we are all sharing together and with the world will hopefully be recipricated to futher the important message we want to share. Please continue to be a part of our mission.
