BENEFITING: Smile Train, Inc.
Quite frankly, there are too many terrible events and situations occurring on a daily basis to even be aware of them all. I’ve recently made an effort to educate myself a bit more on the various crises that are occurring at global and personal levels and, in doing this, I have discovered a vast range of charities and organizations that are doing everything in their power to help those in need.
One such charity is Smile Train.
I just Googled the word, “crisis,” to reaffirm the fact that it’s a word that can be applied to an event that affects millions of people or a single family. It is and is therefore an apt description for many who suffer from cleft lips and palettes and, unfortunately, lack the means to treat them. Smile Train IS the means for many such families, providing surgeries at an international level and ensuring that communities are provided with the knowledge and tools to train others and maintain a sustainable system of aid and support.
It’s pretty awesome and likely isn’t something I would have ever become aware of were it not for my favorite TV show and the portrayer of one of my favorite fictional characters.
This fundraiser is pretty much geared towards others in a similar predicament as I, who wouldn’t be aware of the work Smile Train does were it not for a LIL show called Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.
I’m a firm believer in the, “every little bit counts,” saying so the goal is for this to be as inclusive as possible and involve everyone from college students surviving off of Ramen to millionaires munching on caviar. Unfortunately, the minimum donation amount accepted by CrowdRise is $10. But....
Each dollar donated = one raffle entry. So a $10 donation isn't one measly entry...
$10 donation = 10 entries
$26 donation = 26 entries
$1,000 donation = 1,000 entries (and a VERY likely chance you’ll have a winning one because, let’s be honest, you’re probably the highest roller in this little raffle)
And so on and so forth.
There are THREE “prizes” that will be shipped to THREE different donors. So each entry gives you the chance at winning one of the three things being raffled.
Jemma Simmons Pop-Art Portrait. Painted with Acrylic paint on a canvas measuring 17x20 inches. (See Picture #2)
Sciencing Simmons Pop-Art Portrait. Painted with Acrylic paint on a canvas measuring 8x10 inches. (See Picture #3)
Simmons Sketch Variant. Painted with Acrylic Paint on a Captain Marvel Blank Variant Cover. (See Picture #4)
All donations received prior to 8PM EST on December 2nd, 2016 are eligible for the raffle. Winners will be selected and contacted (via the email used for donating) on or around December 3rd, 2016.
I just enjoy occasionally putting paintbrush to canvas and doodling my favorite characters from my favorite films and shows. I am but a small plebian with a limited skillset who thought that some people might be willing to give some loose change to a good cause if there were a teeny incentive involved. The ‘prizes’ aren’t official in any way other than me officially having done them. I have ZERO affiliation with Marvel, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., Elizabeth Henstridge (who portrays Jemma Simmons), or anyone other than the suckers I like to call my friends and family.
