George Eastman House has the opportunity to purchase a Rephotographic Survey Project (RSP) print set in 2016 – help us raise the funds to make this possible!
Between 1977 and 1979 the Rephotographic Survey Project identified the locations where over 120 nineteenth-century landscape photographs could be re-photographed in an effort to record these spaces and allow for comparison to the earlier images. Led by Mark Klett, the group of historians, photographers and museum professionals located the exact spots where earlier survey photographers stood, rephotographed the view, and assembled the images into a book, which served as a report on the survey project. In the 1990s, the group made print sets containing 35 of the pairings (70 photographs in all), and sold these to institutions to support their Third View project.
