As someone who was prescribed his first pair of glasses around the age of 6, vision loss is something that is extremely important to me. When I learned that Lighthouse International was a charity partner of the 2013 TD Five Boro Bike Tour, I was compelled to join and help make a difference. On Sunday, May 5, I along with tens of thousands of other riders will participate in the 40-mile, traffic-free course throughout the five boroughs to help raise awareness.
For over a century, Lighthouse International has been helping people of all ages overcome the challenges of vision loss. Through low vision exams, vision rehabilitation services, a preschool and a music school for the visually impaired and through career, academic and social services, Lighthouse helps clients maintain independence and gain the confidence and skills they need to achieve their potential.
Please help support me in this important fundraiser. Your gift of:
$50 can provide tuition assistance for a student in our Music School.
$100 can provide a field trip for one Pre K class of children with vision loss in our child development center.
$250 can provide low vision devices to maximize the vision of someone who cannot afford them.
$500 can provide an eye exam and glasses for one child.
$1,000 can provide career assessment, training and job placement assistance for one person with vision loss.
Your gift of any level will go directly to providing Lighthouse clients, patients and students with the services they need.
Thank you for being a champion for sight!
