Dear Friends and Family,
Over the past few years I have been cycling with my visually impaired friend Artie Elefant to raise awareness of Lighthouse International’s programs for the visually impaired. Unfortunately, Artie is currently undergoing chemotherapy treatment for a chronic form of leukemia. While he cannot ride in this year’s Five Boro Bike Ride, he has promised me that he will be my partner again next year. In his stead, this year my oldest daughter Adrienne will be my tandem stoker. We are riding in the annual Five Boro Bike Ride for our love of Artie as well as for Lighthouse International’s Double Up 4 Vision program.
For those of you that don’t know Lighthouse International, for more than a century it has been providing services to people of all ages who are facing the challenges of vision loss. Through low vision exams, orientation and mobility services, vision rehabilitation, and occupational therapy, Lighthouse International helps the visually impaired gain the confidence and skills they need to help them achieve their potential.
