It's a 24-hour bike-a-thon in the middle of January. We ride midnight to midnight.
January 18th, 2014 will mark the 3rd Annual Bike the Blizzard fundraiser for Back Alley Bikes Detroit, a youth/community bicycle nonprofit organization.
Personal Note from Douggles:
Back Alley Bikes means a lot to me. Through their workshops and friendly volunteers and staff, I've learned to build and fix my own bicycle. Even better, I've learned to teach youth how to build bicycles. They do amazing work supporting young people and people of all ages to keep riding safely in Detroit, MI.
Last year I rode with Team Gladstone (Go team! Much love, warmth, and safe wishes for you this year), and we raised over $1300 for Back Alley Bikes. I rode a personal longest day of ~124 miles in the 24 hours.
My goal this year: 125 miles! It won't be easy. But your support will keep me pushing forward!
About Team Promet Source:
This year Doug has convinced Andy, the CEO of the company Doug works for, Promet Source, to make the trip from Chicago and brave the 24 hours of cold on two wheels! Thus, TEAM PROMET SOURCE is formed...
Last year everyone who supported my team got our hand made block print postcards and letters. I hope to thank y'all this year with something special again...
Until then, enjoy the warm feelings of supporting a great organization and a bunch of crazies willing to brave the cold!
