BENEFITING: YOUNG SURVIVAL COALITION INC
I've always loved community service, and I've been actively involved in raising money and donating my time for multiple causes including American Cancer Society, Project Linus, local nursing homes/children's hospitals/homeless shelters, etc. Since medical school, I've donated my time clinically but have not gotten back to donating to organizations in a while! So now as a doctor and a health & fitness coach, I want to get back into fundraising and see what I can do!
Since October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, I'm choosing to DONATE to Young Survival Coalition (YSC).

Although most women are diagnosed after the age of 40 years old, young women CAN and DO get breast cancer:
>250,000 women diagnosed with breast cancer at age 40 or younger are living in the U.S. today
>13,000 young women will be diagnosed this year
Breast cancer in young women accounts for a small percentage of all breast cancer cases, but the impact of the disease is significant. These are women with their whole lives ahead of them but are devastated by this disease and are unable to have a family, have a successful career, or simply to live life how they've always dreamed of.
Young Survival Coalition (YSC) was founded in 1998 by 3 women who were diagnosed with breast cancer before their 35th birthdays. This is the 1st organization to focus exclusively on the unique issues young women younger than 40 years old with breast cancer face. YSC provides young women with support and health information to see them from diagnosis to long-term survivorship, helping with issues like early menopause and effects on fertility. It also advocates for increased research on young women with breast cancer.
So will you join me this month of October?
