Dr. Thomas (Doc) Kotulak Memorial Scholarship
Organized by: Micah Pangburn
Dr. Kotulak did so much for Indiana University Southeast from running the campus CLU to starting a pre-law program on campus. Doc as he was known by students and friends was a huge asset to Indiana University Southeast and when he passed away in 2013 it left a big void in the Political Science department and the students hearts both past and present. Doc was not only a professor but a mentor and a friend to the students. He spent many hours outside of school hanging out with students discussing whatever intellectual topic you would like to discuss. He was always prepared for class and you always learned something new when talking with him. I had never had a professor that taught like he did, where you wanted to learn more and you did not want class to end when it was time to go. His influence will be felt for decades to come but his loss is also going to felt for decades to come. His contribution to his students and the campus exceed what any professor is required to do. Doc always went above and beyond to help both former and present students with anything they may need help with. This idea of a scholarship in his name was kicked around in 2013 and withered away but now it is time to honor Doc in such a way as to give someone a scholarship in his name that plans to go into pre-law or Poltical Science here at Indiana University Southeast.
