About Dragon Boat Racing
What is Dragon Boat Racing? Dragon boat racing is the fastest-growing water sport in the world. The Philadelphia International Dragon Boat Festival is open to men and women, ages 8 and older, of all experience and fitness levels. The key is a team’s ability to move in unison, combining strength with teamwork in a boat whose elaborate design originates in ancient China. Dragon boats are the world’s largest flat water racing canoes, propelled by a crew of 20 plus a drummer and steersperson. Teamwork is everything in dragon boat racing. Synchronization is more important than strength. A perfectly synchronized team will almost always beat a stronger, but less coordinated team. Don’t miss this unique event. The Annual Philadelphia International Dragon Boat Festival will offer a day of thrilling racing, fun activities and prizes. Bring the family and enjoy the day’s festivities. Join the fun!
