Katie and I embarked on a five day bicycle trek in the summer of 2016 from Peoria to Green Bay, Wisconsin. The initial reason was to make incredible memories and enhance our father/daughter bond. We both decided to use the ride as an opportunity to raise funds for Dream Center Peoria-a place near to our hearts. All in all, friends and family graciously donated $1200 toward DCP.
With this small success and contribution to DCP, Andy King challenged us to organize a ride for many to enjoy. Our goal is to rally up to 50 riders to bicycle from Dream Center Peoria to the Gateway Arch, St. Louis, Missouri July 15-17. This memorable 180 mile three-day ride is great for a first time family or the serious rider looking for a fully supported ride.
Proceeds benefit Dream Center Peoria and support it's mission to impact families living in poverty, starting with youth.
The Goal: Katie and I would like to raise $5,400 (180 miles x 2 riders x $15 per mile)
Why? Because we want to see if we could help over 2500 students, who are in need, to start school well on the first day of school with a Backpack full of school supplies. Dream Center Peoria has ran BackPack Peoria for the last 16 years and over the years has given away over 35,000 Backpacks loaded with school supplies to children in need in the Peoria area.
Check out BackPack Peoria. It cost $15 for a bag and school supplies. If we could raise $15 per mile, per rider, then the goal of $40,000 would be met with 15 riders riding. The more riders, the bigger the impact on all of our summer programs.
