This all started in 2016 when a local businessman and his daughter decided to take a bike ride from Peoria to Green Bay, Wisconsin. The aim was to grow closer to each other as father and daughter. Not only did that happen in a big way but they also challenged themselves to raise money for a not for profit organization that was near and dear to their hearts. Brett and Katie Beachler raised over $1200 for Dream Center Peoria.
So this year they wanted to open it up see if they could rally the biking community around Peoria to ride for this amazing organization. This year they have chosen to ride from Peoria to St.Louis arch. This memorable 180 mile three-day ride is great for a first time family ride or for the serious rider looking for a fully supported ride. Proceeds benefit Dream Center Peoria and support it's mission to impact families living in poverty, starting with youth.
The Goal: The goal is big but totally doable. We want to challenge people to raise as much money, per mile, as possible. Why? Because we want to see if we could help over 2500 students, who are in need, to start school well on the first day of school with a Backpack full of school supples. Dream Center Peoria has ran BackPack Peoria for the last 16 years and over the years has given away over 35,000 Backpacks loaded with school supplies to children in need in the Peoria area.
Check out BackPack Peoria. It cost $15 for a bag and school supplies. If we could raise $15 per mile, per rider, then the goal of $40,000 would be met with 15 riders riding. The more riders, the bigger the impact on all of our summer programs.
