Dream Big! -
I am honored to be a part of the 2015 Dream Big! Team and to run my first-ever marathon on behalf of such an inspiring, local charity. Growing up in Massachusetts, I have watched countless marathoners run the 26.2 miles from Hopkinton to Boston with great admiration and pride. Now, Dream Big! has given me the opportunity to make one of my lifelong sports dreams come true--running the Boston Marathon.
Many years of competitive athletics, from grammar school to Lynnfield High School to Brown University, have made me the woman that I am today. I am, and will remain, forever grateful for not only the positive impact that athletics has had on my life, but also for all of the incredible teammates, coaches, and mentors I had along the way. Although my playing days on the hardwood are behind me, I am still deeply passionate about the role that sports can play in the lives of girls today. I firmly believe that, as the great Nelson Mandela stated, “sport has the power to change the world.” Dream Big! is working to effectuate that change by positively impacting the health, education, and overall well-being of girls through sport.
Empowering females through sport. Every day a girl in need steps on the playing field, court, or track without the proper footwear, equipment, sports attire, or training. It is the mission of Dream Big! to tackle this barrier to access by providing girls in need with equipment, uniforms, athletic footwear, program fees, training expenses, and sports opportunities. In April 2015, I will join the Dream Big! Marathon Team, comprised of 16 runners from around the world, at the start line of the Boston Marathon to help breakdown these economic barriers that prevent thousands of girls from economically disadvantaged neighborhoods from participating in sports and physical activities.
Over the past four years, Dream Big! has had a powerful impact on more than 10,000 girls in need through equipment donations, program scholarships, and sports clinics. In addition, Dream Big! has hosted Leadership Conferences for middle and high school female athletes. Notwithstanding this remarkable progress, there is more work to be done. Please consider helping me in my effort to advance the impactful work of Dream Big! Together, we can empower more female students with the supplies they need to enrich their lives as female student-athletes.

Thank you in advance for your support - I sincerely appreciate your donation to Team Dream Big! I am so grateful for all the life lessons sports have taught me and the opportunities sports have given me. Fortunately, I have had an incredibly loving and supportive family, along with an amazing teammate in my sister, Kaleigh, cheering me on every step of the way. Hope to see you out along the course on Marathon Monday!
