Dear friends and family –
It is tough to put into words what my athletic career has meant to me because, for lack of better words, it has meant everything. I am who I am because of the opportunity I had to be part of a team. I owe each and every one of my teammates a huge thank you for pushing me beyond limits, for standing along side me after victory or defeat, for challenging me to be a better player, teammate and person, but most of all for inspiring me each and every day. Athletics have taught me discipline, resilience, persistence and how to set and achieve goals better than any lesson in the classroom. For all of these reasons I am so excited to be running in the 2017 Boston Marathon for Dream Big!
Unfortunately, poverty can severely limit a young girl’s involvement in sports and physical activities. Every day a girl in need steps on the playing field, court or track without the proper footwear, equipment, sports attire or training they deserve. Launched in Massachusetts in 2010, Dream Big! provides girls from low-income situations with uniforms, athletic footwear, program fees, training expenses, sports opportunities and the supplies they need to participate in sports and physical activities that contribute to their health, education and overall well-being. Dream Big! has already had a direct, positive effect on more than 22,000 girls in need through equipment donations, program scholarships, sports clinics and the Dream Big! Leadership Conferences for middle & high school girls from urban communities.
I run to give this same opportunity that meant so much to me to other girls in the community. Please join me in helping to support this incredible organization.
Thank you so much for your support!
All the best,
