BENEFITING: DREAMFAR HIGH SCHOOL MARATHON
ORGANIZER: DREAMFAR HIGH SCHOOL MARATHON
EVENT: 2015 Boston Marathon
Hello, THANK YOU for taking the time to visit my 2015 Boston Marathon Crowdrise site! I, Emily Legere, will be running the Boston Marathon on Monday April 20, 2015. I am thrilled to be devoting myself to preparing for the 26.2 mile race in the coming months!! While I am taking on the challenge of training for my second marathon (through a New England winter), the true importance here is the challenge tackled by the amazing Directors, Mentors, and Students of the Dreamfar High School Marathon program! Their mission… IS TO CHALLENGE HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS TO REACH THEIR FULL POTENTIAL – PHYSICALLY, SOCIALLY, EMOTIONALLY AND ACADEMICALLY – THROUGH A MENTOR-SUPPORTED MARATHON-TRAINING PROGRAM.
That’s right... not only am I running a marathon to benefit the operation of this program… but the cause is dedicated to running marathons and the powerful, positive impact that it can have!! Running and racing is very important to me, I cannot imagine being more excited to do my part in supporting this wonderful program. But I can’t accomplish this goal without YOU! Please consider donating on this page to support my goal of raising $13,750 for Dreamfar. This goal is made possible in part by the generosity of my employer, athenahealth, Inc. of Watertown, MA, and their ongoing dedication to the success of Dreamfar. I personally am taking on the challenge of raising the remaining $3,750 while training for Boston. I can also accept cash and check donations in person, and will ensure your names and contributions are included on this page, as well as that every penny reaches Dreamfar.
In addition to running the Boston Marathon, I will be training alongside the Dreamfar students and mentors during our weekly long runs this winter. As my four athenahealth Dreamfar team members/coworkers and I train together, we will also get the chance to meet and encourage the Dreamfar team on their journey to a local marathon in May 2015. I hope that you can support all of us along this journey, as I work and train my hardest to support this program on my own 26.2 mile journey from Hopkington to Boston!!!!!!
Dreamfar accomplishes its mission by addressing several of the issues that often get in the way of a student's success and enjoyment in high school. Dreamfar seeks to help each student – develop a sense of self-worth and self-respect – facilitate connections; in school with other students, teachers and adult mentors from the community – instill the value of hard work to use when tackling life's challenges in high school and beyond – and experience the value of a physically active lifestyle.
If Dreamfar sounds like even more than a worthy cause to you, please consider learning more about them at http://www.dreamfarhsm.org/ .
