BENEFITING: Dreams for Kids, Inc.
Dreams for Kids offers three different programs to help kids of all different backgrounds and abilities. The programs are called Dream Leaders, Extreme Recess, and Holiday for Hope.
Dream Leaders in addition to empower youth to make a difference in the world, breaks down all the barriers teens and people in general are faced with. It brings people of all races, abilities, backgrounds, religions, etc. together to accomplish one major goal: do whatever they can to help whoever they can and improve the world. This is definitely a message and a mission I support!
The second program is amazing as well. It's called Extreme Recess and although it is about having fun what this program is most about to me is showing kids with physical and developmental difficulties that they can be like "everyone else." They can participate in sports and make friends and have the best time while doing it!! This program is the most personal to me as I have always wanted to have the opportunity to play basketball the only way I can (on my knees) and not feel like an outcast while doing it, so to me this program is very important for kids!
The third program that Dreams for Kids has is Holiday for Hope. This program is better described in the organization's words than mine: "On a Saturday in December, over 1,000 homeless and severely underprivileged youth in Chicago enjoy a spectacular day of food, music, games, clowns, face painters, and each child receives a shopping bag full of gifts. Similar events are hosted across the United States and in countries around the world. In each event, those who are given the gift of hope are encouraged to pay it forward by serving their community in the following days."
Since all of these programs are about empowering youth and bringing people together to help change the world in any way they can, I thought it would be the perfect Crowdrise project!! So please, help me Dreams for Kids if you believe in their message and mission as much as I do. Thank you!!
