The dream of the Milo West Dream, Move and Rest playground is to provide a fun and safe place for children to play with a surface and equipment inclusive also to children with disabilities or limitations. In Milo-Grogan West there are probably over 100 kids with no place to play within walking distance. These young and hopeful souls make do with what we have, an empty lot owned by our church. Year after year, We see youth in groups of 20 or 25 in this empty lot, playing touch football, tossing the soccer ball around and the younger children playing tag. Sometimes the younger kids or even the girls don’t get a chance to play. Sometimes we put up a badminton net as they rush to get their chance. Most of the time, it’s only the older boys who get to play, taking over the limited space, while the younger ones sit watching along the sidelines waiting for a turn. Sometimes they drag old pieces of equipment from our church basement onto the softness that the grass offers. When they don’t have this chance, the younger kids still play on the church parking lot, where the inevitable falls and bumps of childhood result in scraped skin, bruised bodies and sad sobs.
We have donated this empty lot and raised $22,235 to build these children their dream playground. Now we need your help. Please consider making this important investment in these children’s future by personally supporting us and distributing Milo Dream Playground information to your friends and associates.
