Drive for duchenne
Organized by: madelyn gonzalez
Hi, my name is Madelyn. I am a single mother of a handicap son. My son Jason has been battling a debilitating genetic disease called Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy for his entire life. Jason is quadriplegic and is unable to provide any form of care for himself. Above all, Jason continues to reflect a big heart and a warm spirit that is often contagious, inspiring the lives of the people around him. Most recently, a small part of his independence was robbed from him. Four years ago I depleted my savings account to facilitate transportation for Jason's medical necessities and recreational use. Jason has faced many hardships utilizing public transportation. A handicap accessible vehicle was purchased from a reputable dealer that has prematurely broken down beyond repair that is unsafe for his use. Over the years we have faced many challenges that has never motivated us to reach out for help. Jason has exceeded the expectations of his disease that I contribute to his minute level of freedom provided from having reliable transportation.
