These daily blogs will be written by various Droptober Lifestyle Ambassadors, with twitter and facebook accounts developed to support this campaign. Obesity accounts for 21% of all US health care costs (more than smoking)…it’s time to do something about it. For those looking to shed some weight, they can now commit to do so - for Variety. Droptober is not encouraging unhealthy dieting to lose weight but rather a beginning to a sustainable and healthy lifestyle. Dropping 5lbs. (or more) in October can lead to 5lbs. in November, December, and beyond!
Let's get moving for Variety!
A Success Story from Australia:
I want to thank you for inspiring me - when I saw something about Droptober, I figured 5lbs in a month was something I could commit to. In fact, I lost 6lbs in the first week, just by keeping a food diary on my iPhone. And I felt great. So I decided to just make sure I maintained that feeling - forever. I changed a few simple things. Swapped to skim milk, ate fruit instead of snacking on humous or muffins. Made my own salads for lunch, always included some protein. Ditched the kids' favourite dinners of pasta and curries for grilled meat and salad.
I didn't think 6lbs could make so much difference. But my skin is glowing, I'm not having my usual hayfever symptoms, and I have so much more energy. I'd been doing ad hoc fitness classes in the park, and now for the first time in a year I can really push myself - I can sprint and I can do the circuits without feeling ill. For the first time I actually look forward to the exercise (I'd always thought that was a myth!) My clothes hang so much better on me now (some are on the big side but at least I don't need to buy a whole new wardrobe).
My friends can't quite pinpoint what's changed. But how I feel inside is what's really changed.
So thanks for thinking up Droptober, and for the simple tips right at the start
