Ramon Rivera, MD
I’m Ramon Rivera, MD and I’m going the distance for our patients at Good Samaritan Hospital, Bon Secours Community Hospital and St. Anthony Community Hospital, members of the Westchester Medical Center Health Network.
I am the Bariatric Director at Good Samaritan Hospital’s Weight Loss Surgical Institute and President and CEO of Tri-State Bariatrics, a multidisciplinary surgical weight loss program. I’ve worked at Good Samaritan Hospital as an advanced laparoscopic surgeon specializing in bariatric surgery for 11 years. I’m honored to run this year’s 2016 TCS New York City Marathon in support of our patients through the Westchester Medical Center Foundation.
I’ve been an avid runner since I was a child and ran track and field through college. Raised in Manhattan, I grew up with the excitement of the New York City Marathon, and I ran my first New York City Marathon a few years ago. Outside of the hospital, I enjoy hiking, biking and other outdoor activities with my family near our home in New City.
In many ways, I believe a marathon is similar to the journey of many of the patients that I work with each day who are trying to lose weight and get healthy. Preparing for a marathon is hard work, it is challenging and difficult at times, but in the end the satisfaction and the benefit is tremendous. By running the marathon in November, I hope to raise awareness and encourage people in our communities to embrace a physically active and healthy lifestyle.
Good Samaritan Hospital in Suffern, New York, is a 286-bed hospital providing emergency, medical, surgical, obstetrical/gynecological and acute care services to residents of Rockland and southern Orange Counties in New York; and northern Bergen County, New Jersey. The hospital is home to a recognized cardiovascular program, comprehensive cancer treatment services, the area’s leading Wound and Hyperbaric Institute and outstanding maternal/child services that includes a Children’s Diagnostic Center. Good Samaritan Hospital is recognized as a Center of Excellence for Bariatric Surgery.
Bon Secours Community Hospital in Port Jervis, New York serves its community with 122 beds for acute care and medical-surgical services, a 24-hour emergency department, long-term care and rehabilitation, a dedicated bariatric surgery unit, behavioral health, and outpatient services.
St. Anthony Community Hospital in Warwick, New York is a 60-bed hospital that is a primary resource for emergency, medical, surgical, obstetrical/gynecological and acute care services.
Thank you for your support as I go the distance in support of our patients in November.
