Drum Corps International Tour for Triston
Organized by: Triston Hudson
I made my March Tuition Payment!
March 01, 2016
I am proud to announce that I have been accepted as a contracted member in the Music City Drum and Bugle Corps for the 2017 season! I will be taking the field this summer with Drum Corps International's elite during a tour that will take me throughout a ten state area.
As a member of the corps, I will spend the summer developing musical and movement expertise, but also self-reliance, discipline, leadership skills, and a strong self worth and work ethic. These are life skills, which cannot be gained through ordinary summer jobs, or weeklong musical camps. A typical summer tour in drum corps lasts approximately 50 days. During the summer months, I will rehearse around 12 hours a day, 7 days a week and perform around the country. The hours are long and the rehearsals demanding, but the payoff comes from the thousands of people who will watch and cheer for me during each performance. This could include up to a million people who will watch the televised broadcast of this year’s championships. This year’s championship event will be at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis.
I am writing to ask for your support of my participation in the program. The drum corps will provide me with opportunities to develop my musical skills as well as my character through the marching arts. The drum and bugle corps activity combines artistic training and physical fitness in a unique way that has allowed generations of participants to develop a responsible work ethic and a spirit of team work. Drum corps provide entertainment to millions through live performances and it is my dream to be a part of this organization.
Each member is required to pay a tuition fee of $2,500.00 to help pay for music, equipment, transportation, housing, meals and instruction. This cost is a large amount for a young person to bear alone. This is where you can make a difference by pledging your financial support. Any money you contribute goes directly toward my tuition fees and every dollar gets me one step closer to pursuing my musical dreams! I would greatly appreciate any amount of assistance you might be able to offer to help me live my dream!
Thank you in advance for your consideration! If you have any questions about my participation in the Music City Drum and Bugle Corps please feel free to contact me. You can also read more about my musical journey to DCI by clicking this link "A Portage Life In The Spotlight: Triston Hudson."
