BENEFITING: EMBRACING HOPE ETHIOPIA INC
THE STORY:
Hey guys! When I went to Ethiopia in October, one of the ministries I visited was Embracing Hope. The Shannon family moved from Lancaster PA to Ethiopia to help the people of Kora. They started a day care there to provide food, medical care, education and activities for young children in order to free up their parents to work and provide for their families. I love their mission and how they are going about making a real lasting impact by not just handing out but by serving in a way that honors God and the people involved. One thing we asked about while visiting, was all the clothes we saw hanging to dry. The day care provides clothes for the children to wear each day that they put on in the morning and then their moms change them back in their home clothes before leaving for the day. This keeps all the kids in the daycare healthy and clean. The daycare then cleans all of the clothes and hangs them to dry. The Shannons were commenting what a blessing it has been to have a washer now instead of having to wash all of them by hand. I asked if they had a dryer and they answered no. They further explained how complicated it can be during the rainy season to hang the clothes to dry and not have them still damp when putting them back on the children. When I asked how much a dryer would cost, they said $1,000. I came home with that as a goal in my heart and mind. I'd really love to raise $1,000 for this ministry before rainy season starts for them. I think it would be great to give them one less obstacle to face as they continue to do this amazing, self-sacrificing, hard work each and every day. Will you join me? That's only 10 people giving $100 or 100 people giving $10. Whatever you can give would be greatly appreciated. Let's knock this out!! Make sure to mention "dryer" in the notes when giving on their website. www.embracinghopeethiopia.com.
