BENEFITING: Great Lakes Dryhootch
Dryhootch Waukesha opened in 2016 on Veterans Day. We are so grateful for the tremendous amount of support we have already recived to help make this possible! We do need continued financial support from the community in order to develop more programs and services for veterans and their families in Waukesha County. Our goal is to raise $50,000 by December 31, 2017!
To mark our one year anniversary we are hosting the first Dryhootch Gala on Veterans Day (November 11, 2017). The theme of the Gala is Veteran Suicide. It has been 16 years since 9/11, and our active component, National Guard, and Reserve service members continue to return home from the Global War on Terror. More often than not, they have served multiple deployments. Like veterans of wars before them, many will be profoundly changed—changes that have dramatic effects on these men and women and their families, friends, and communities. Each day, 22 of these veterans will take their own lives. We are hopeful that this Gala will help reduce the stigma of mental illness, build awareness of veteran suicide, and ultimately save lives.
Additionally, we have a Women Warriors Art Club that meets the 2nd Monday of every month. We offer individual and group peer support. Stay tuned for a few other exciting groups we plan to start before the end of 2017 such as: Lego Club, Bible Study, and a Book Club!
