On October 25th, Jensen Ackles had won a competition funded by the BillE Celeb Charity Challenge that would give $25,000 to the Down Syndrome Guild of Dallas organization. This was done with the help of all his fans. Naturally, everyone that knew and is a fan of Jensen was completely excited and thought it was great!
So, it came as a complete shock on December 3rd that the organization would NOT be giving the money to the charity. Jensen had given a respectful decline to the photo op that BillE was going to do so it could give the money to the organization, due to work scheduling and on account of being very busy, and perhaps he would be busy within the year he had to accept the donation. With this decline, however, BillE took back the money it was going to give to the organization, so now the Down Syndrome Guild of Dallas is not getting the $25,000.
Naturally, many of his fans thought this to be wrong, I included. A celebrity declining to do a photo op or meeting a fan or whatever the terms of agreement may be should not be the make or break in order to give to charity. Charity should be given because it's--well, charity. It's why this fundraiser is here. The goal of this fundraiser is to raise money for the organization, because it deserves it. The Down Syndrome Guild of Dallas is a great organization: they provide support to families that have children or family members with Down Syndrome, give resources to families that need help or need more information, and even have medical staff within their organization to assist families or people affected by Down Syndrome with whatever they need.
I don't expect to raise the original $25,000 BillE was going to give to the organization, but every little bit goes a long way, and even something as little as $10 is greatly appreciated. Seriously, if only $1,000 is raised, that's still a good amount going to charity (although I would love to see more than that go to the Down Syndrome Guild of Dallas).
So, give a little to a big cause.
