BENEFITING: American Red Cross
My name is Warren Olaya, a Filipino American and a fellow Deltasig from Alpha Omega in Chicago.
PLEASE NOTE: I'm not asking for $100 (though any large donations are accepted.) However I know if a good amount of us can give anywhere from $1 - $10 we can make a difference together.
I'm sure we have all seen some of scenes of what has happened in the Philippines over the last week. The images I've seen the last few days of what's happening in the Philippines are some of the most heartbreaking images and videos I've ever seen. Not just of wreckage and people waiting in line for relief goods, but the images shown of bodies along the road in Tacloban. Of people trying to communicate with their family overseas through TV interviews, breaking into tears on camera as they describe that their brothers and sisters are alive but the storm ripped their sons and daughters from their arms. Of people walking around hopelessly looking for food to loot but realizing there's nothing there.
With that said the response to Haiyan worldwide has been amazing. I’m extremely grateful for the outpouring of support from so many countries and organizations across the world and any aid will go a long way towards the road to recovery. Now I'm here, asking you, fellow brothers to do the same. To join me in showing just how much of an impact our fraternal bond can make when others are in dire need of help. I'm asking for you to give what you can and spread the word to other brothers, collegiate or alumni, young and old and even close friends of our fraternity.
I leave us with words that are familar to us all:
“He was a man of commerce, a man of Delta Sigma Pi, and the world is better because he dwelt upon it.” Every dollar counts brothers and I know that together, we can truly make a difference.
