EVENT DATE: Jun 09, 2016
The Delta Sigma Theta South Atlantic Regional Conference will take place in Virginia Beach, VA June 8-12, 2016. The South Atlantic Regional Conference fundraiser offers you just that. The Virginia Beach Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., as hosts of the 27th South Atlantic Regional Conference, has organized a fundraiser to benefit Samaritan House Domestic Violence Program here at the beach. As Domestic Violence is one of Delta’s National Initiatives, this event would help supply housing and services for survivors of domestic violence, individuals, children, and entire families.
The host of the 2016 SARC has developed, along with Samaritan House, an interesting and competitive online fundraiser to support Samaritan House and the many important services they provide to victims, survivors and families impacted by domestic violence. One of the most critical ongoing needs is funds to provide temporary housing for individuals and families with children, some who must leave in the middle of the night for their safety. Funds raised from the fundraiser will be used to pay rent and other housing expenses during emergency situations. Samaritan House not only provides services to families living in the Virginia Beach area, but is an available resource to families in the other states in the South Atlantic Region.
The chapter that raises the highest donations per capita* with a minimum of $2000 in donations, will win a weekend on breathtaking Martha’s Vineyard in Massachusetts (https://www.homeaway.com/vacation-rental/p309687). This five bedroom, three bath home will be yours to enjoy. Get ready for a glorious weekend of relaxing, sightseeing, shopping, fine dining and more.
*Per capita is the total money raised (has to be over $2,000) divided by the number of members in the chapter. For instance, a chapter of 50 members that raise $2,000 has a per capita of $40; but a chapter of 10 members that raise $2,000 has a per capita of $200. The goal is for each member to raise at least $50 each.
