The Story

EVENT DATE: Aug 30, 2015

Thank you for being willing to participate in the "Dunk for Donations" challenge!

For years, New Hope Center for Grief Support has served people throughout Southeast Michigan after the loss of a loved one. We are intentional about providing this service at no cost to those who are grieving. Loss affects everyone, regardless of financial status. We never want finances to be an obstacle for people receiving the help they need in such a difficult situation. We wanted to give you a fun way to participate in providing those services to the community!

For years, we have held a summer golf outing. While this has been a fun event, we wanted to do an event that was for the entire community. New Hope has been in existence for 15 years, yet there are still people that are not familiar with the services we provide. You can help make that possible!

On Sunday, August 30th, we are holding the first annual New Hope Family Fun Festival! The event, in support of Grief Awareness Day, will serve as a fundraiser and outreach event to engage the communities that New Hope serves. There will be live music, food, fun activities for both kids and adults, a dunk tank, and a special memorial tribute at the end of the evening. Whether you come alone or come with your family, you will have a great time!

A big part of the New Hope Family Fun Festival will be the "Dunk for Donations" dunk tank. We are asking for people who are adventerous and willing to brave the cold water to help raise funds and awareness for New Hope. Who knew that a dunk tank could help so many people?!?

Getting involved is simple, and can be done several ways:

-Make a donation towards the Dunk for Donation Challenge. Two staff members, Karen Laing and Rick Guttersohn are already volunteering to be dunked. Click either of their pages and contribute towards the fun!

-Take the Dunk for Donations Challenge and create a page for yourself! Creating a page is simple, and there are instructions below to help you get started, as well as some sample content to add to your page. Feel free to add your own story as well. If you have questions on how to set up a page, email rick@newhopecenter.net.

-Purchase tickets to the event and spread the word! Tickets can be purchased on our website: www.newhopecenter.net/rsvp. Adults are $25; Teens are $10; Children 12 and under are free!

Thank you for participating in this challenge! You aren't just helping out New Hope Center for Grief Support, you are helping those who are hurting find hope, healing, and new beginnings. You are making a difference, and we appreciate you!

Instructions for creating a page:

  • Click the black "Set up your fundraiser" tab on the right side of page
  • Select "Start your own fundraiser"
  • Follow the instructions. You can customize your page as much as you want, although the more information and pictures you put, the better your page will be.

Sample Content for your page:

Does the idea of me being plunged into a tank full of cold water bring a grin to your face? Have you secretly been looking for an opportunity to get revenge against me? Or do you just like being involved in charitable causes that impact our community? If any of these sound like you, consider participating in the “Dunk For Donations” challenge at the New Hope Family Fun Festival on Sunday, August 30th!

New Hope Center for Grief Support provides support, education, and community to people in Southeast Michigan grieving the loss of a loved one. Located in Northville, they have been serving the community since 2000. They are intentional about providing their services at no cost to those who are grieving. As a 501c3 non-profit organization, they rely on the generosity of others to provide this service to those looking for hope, healing, and new beginnings after losing a loved one.

I am volunteering to be dunked in order to support their mission. I am asking you to help support that mission as well. There are a few ways to participate:

  • Purchase tickets to the event (Adults $25, Teens $10, Kids 12 and under free) www.newhopecenter.net/rsvp
  • Participate in the Dunk for Donations challenge by making a donation to New Hope (either at the event or online) and dunking me in the dunk tank.

Thank you for your participation. Your donations will make a difference in the lives of those who are hurting. Healing begins when hope is found!
