Stomp out Stigma is fundraiser that hits very close to home. Since February of 2016 I have dealt with my younger brother's depression. Calls going out to the rescue squad, calls from friends and other family members, hearing the sirens, seeing the ambulance, the sheriff's deputies, the state police, running out of work, visits to the hospital all became a way of life. I was finding out that while my brother had looked OK on the outside, he was broken on the inside. I was always his sidekick. I remembering him coming home from the hospital as a newborn and I was so happy. Growing up, always together, a close knit family. Life took a turn. He was laid off from his job due to downsizing, then there was the divorce and the sale of his beloved house he built himself. Always taking care of his family, always taking care of his mother and me. I had taken classes through NAMI to try to help him. But he made up his own mind. He was a broken person that no longer wanted to face the living. That last final phone call, what no one never wants to hear. Your loved one has died. Days turn to weeks, weeks to months. Life goes on in a blur. I keep asking why. Why did you take your life. I get no answers. I need to do something, I need to put my heart into something. Gabby misses you, as well as your mother. It's time to reach out, reach out to others, so they don't have to go through this. Lets lend a helping hand . Lets help a worthy cause.
