A lifelong resident of Portsmouth and a Portsmouth Realtor for 50 years, I have always been passionate about the growth of our community and along with my wife, have helped develop numerous commercial sites in the area as well as student housing to help the growth of Shawnee State University. I have always believed in giving back to others and enjoy giving back to the community that has supported me and my family for many years.
My first dance experiences that I recall were swim dances at Dreamland Pool. I was too shy to dance, so spent most of my time playing ping-pong. In 1978, my wife Vicky and I won a twist contest while on a cruise. Then in 2005 I appeared on stage with Chubby Checkers at the Rock and Roll House Party held at the Vern Riffe Center for the Arts. Although some people say I don’t have the best rhythm and have two left feet, I still enjoy twisting the night away and hope my partner Elizabeth Scott can keep up with me on the dance floor!
In my spare time I enjoy playing golf, riding my Yamaha scooter, speed walking and spending time with my family, especially our three Grandchildren, Tanner (21), Mary (13) and Gwen (10).
The Red Cross has been a part of our family’s heritage for years. My mother, father-in-law, sister-in-law and wife all served on the local Red Cross Board at one time or another. I began giving blood at the age of 17 and have given more than three gallons through the years. Participating in Dancing With Our Stars is a new and exciting way to give back to my community as I help raise funds which keep Red Cross services readily available for those in need in our community.
