I recently returned to Portsmouth as a Pediatrician with SOMC Pediatric Associates. Born and raised in McDermott, I am a graduate of Northwest High School and The Ohio State University College of Medicine. I did my residency at Nationwide Children’s Hospital in Columbus before returning home. I have been happily married for over seven years and we are the parents of one daughter, Kairi age 2 and her new baby brother Spencer.
In my spare time I enjoy comic books, soccer, digital art, playing with my children, sci-fi and being involved in children’s outreach. Basically, I’m an all around nerd and a giant child myself!
I’ve been in a lot of videos and talent shows of the comedic variety; however, I’ve never taken dancing seriously. I’m excited to be in a real competition and look forward to busting a move with my partner Ashlyn Howie. Honestly if I don’t experience any serious bodily injury during the competition, then I’ll consider it a victory in my book.
The Red Cross as an organization originated as a personification of the qualities that we should all strive for as individuals. Whether through blood drives or providing much needed supplies, the Red Cross serves the simple purpose of improving the lives of the vulnerable. I’m humbled by the opportunity to play a part (even if it is a super small part) in such an amazing organization.
When initially asked to dance, I thought there is no way! I just moved back to Portsmouth, have a growing family, new job and am readjusting to the wonders of Southern Ohio. Then after a little persuasion from my family and colleagues, I warmed up to the idea of being a “Star”. Now that things are finally getting started, I’m stoked about the awesome times we’ll have raising money for such a good cause. That’s right Red Cross – Bring on the pain and humility because this pediatrician is ready to rock!
