BENEFITING: Pajama Program, Inc.
I read about the Pajama Program on the Scholastic Reading Club website..I was browsing through the current flyer and when I seen this I realized that I want Dyston to grow up with an appreciation for all that he has. In today's day and age, I think some of our kids take for granted all the amenities that they have. Dyston at six years old has two game systems, a tablet, flat screen TV in his bedroom and a fourwheeler to drive just to mention a few. Obviously; I without realizing it have given him all this without a hesitation.. I always figure hes a good kid and does well in school. But now I wonder; what if we lost all this. He would probably go into shock. And I realize that would be because I have not really taught him that all that he has are extras and not requirements. So this is the beginning of me teaching Dyston how lucky we are ( because I know I too tend to take for granted all that I have) to have all that we have. I hope to humble him and teach him compassion for the less fortunate. I know hes young and I have done a very good job of protecting him from the reality of how hard some other children have it but I also think at his age its the best time to teach him about compassion and humbleness. So here we are, we are doing this fundraiser which you can make simple donations to and the funds go directly to the charity or we are also starting to collect brand new with tags pajamas through the 15th of December and from there they will be forwarded directly to the organization that the Pajama Program sets us up with and into the hands of needy children in our area to wear to bed on Christmas Eve. If you are in the Highlands County Florida are feel free to contact me at firstname.lastname@example.org to get in touch with me about donating the pajamas. If you are not in our area or would prefer to make a cash donation that goes directly to the organization you can do so on here.
