Bring back the beloved Burt and Gerry Rissman PlayVenture at the Detroit Zoo!
For more than 15 years, children climbed, tunneled, see-sawed and slid through this amazing play structure while parents got a much-needed break from taking in all the sights at the Detroit Zoo. We miss the Rissman PlayVenture and if you’ve ever visited the Zoo with children in tow, we're sure you do too!
First opened in May of 1997, the Burt and Gerry Rissman PlayVenture provided a dose of Vitamin Z for thousands of children visiting the Zoo. Active play has been proven to help kids develop physically and socially while enhancing their ability to learn. The Rissman family has generously agreed to help fund a new PlayVenture, but we need your support to raise $15,000 to prepare the site and add some exciting new features.
Operated by the Detroit Zoological Society, the Detroit Zoo provides our community with a cherished place to create memories while encouraging a greater appreciation, respect, sense of responsibility, and compassion for nature and all living things. From family outings and school field trips to educational programs and one-of-a-kind experiences, more than 1.2 million visitors annually look to the Detroit Zoo to nourish their minds and souls.
Donations of any size are appreciated and encouraged. Please show your support by making a donation today for the re-construction of the Rissman PlayVenture at your Detroit Zoo, or provide a mega-dose of Vitamin Z by signing up to fundraise for this campaign.
