Deadline to Give: June 9, 2014
Welcome to Educator2Educator Foundation’s Fundraiser. Today, children in more than 9,000 public schools in the U.S. do not have access to books. Children in every community need and deserve access to meaningful and personally interesting books so they can become expert readers, thinkers, and problem solvers of tomorrow. Yet close to 10% of public schools in our nation do not have central libraries, more than 50% do not have classroom libraries, and nationally, more than 20% of public schools do not have a full time state-certified school librarian.
Our foundation strives to bring the gift of literacy to children attending kindergarten through high school in high poverty areas. Your donations will go toward schools to purchase books for central and classroom libraries.
We have already made a significant impact at Quarles Elementary School in Winchester, Virginia, the recipient of our first grant. Library circulation this February increased to 4,500 books after the librarian added 400 books. Circulation continues to soar; children check out stacks of books and have meaningful discussions with their peers and teachers.
By giving, you can help reluctant readers become proficient readers and develop the expertise to succeed in school and make positive contributions to their communities. Every dollar you donate will go towards purchasing outstanding fiction and nonfiction for schools in need. Start by contributing $10.00 or more to give all children the gift of literacy!
