THE STORY:

From Educators 4 Excellence:

Each May, Educators 4 Excellence (E4E) honors the hard work of hundreds of teachers across the country by turning the nationally celebrated Teacher Appreciation Week into a month long celebration. We believe a week is not enough to recognize the hard work, dedication, accomplishments and leadership of teachers.

This May, #ThankaTeacher by donating to E4E. Your donation will support the leadership development and impact of teachers in Minnesota by defraying the costs of grassroots organizing efforts, Teacher Leadership Program trainings, publishing Teacher Policy Team white papers, and supporting teacher advocacy of policies that are good for students.

Why I'm campaigning for Educators 4 Excellence:

Over the past two years, I have been involved with Educators 4 Excellence (E4E), a non-profit that works to ensure the voices of classroom teachers are included in policy discussions that affect our students and our classrooms.

E4E has already had an enormous impact on my students, my school, and me. Through them I have been able to network with other passionate educators and decision makers in effort to shape policies that benefit students in MN. Last year I worked with 18 other educators to rejuvenate Minnesota’s Q Comp proposal into a plan that gets teachers involved in structuring district and school specific professional development, and career ladder and evaluation systems. Working on that bill last year, and lobbying for it at the capitol this year, has completely shifted what I thought to be possible. It’s everyone’s pipedream to make a difference but it is now my reality. The best part is, I am experiencing this by doing what every good teacher deserves to be able to do, and can do with E4E—collaborate, develop ideas, and have those ideas heard by decision makers.

My goal is to raise $500. Every contribution will help support the elevation of teacher voice on the issues that matter most for student success. Every contribution will help engage more teachers and provide for them the skillsets they desire to make the most of their invaluable knowledge.

$25 helps E4E recruit, engage, and connect a new teacher member with policy and leadership opportunities

$50 helps E4E host school-based community events for teachers such as focus groups and listening sessions

$100 helps E4E organize large panel discussion events for teachers to meet with experts and policy makers through the E4E Networking and Event Series

$250 helps E4E members share their policy recommendations with key education decision-makers through the E4E Teacher Policy Team Program

$500 helps E4E provide teacher leadership training through the E4E Teacher Leadership Program

Thank you so much for your support!
