BENEFITING: LAUREN BEAM FOUNDATION INC
EVENT DATE: Jun 01, 2014
THE STORY:
UPDATE: I finished! You can see from the pic that the race was easy and I enjoyed every minute! It really was the toughest course I've done.
Alas I did not get to pierce my nipples as I did not hit my goal. Major bummer, but my wife is relieved!
Thank you - for every dollar. Click to donate NOW! I'm wrapping up this end of week, and hoping to hit $2,500 which will fund half a grant to help a cancer sufferer with their costs. For example:
A 29 year-old woman with recurrent Ewing’s sarcoma who was forced to miss work as a 911 operator due to her treatment regimen. The Lauren Beam Foundation provided funds to help cover her Cobra insurance payments due to her inability to work while on medication.
I'm racing the Escape From Alcatraz triathlon in San Francisco, supposedly one of the toughest (but most beautiful) courses around.
That doesn't worry me though, because I'm not even tired from not doing any training!
My goal is to raise $5,000 for the Foundation because this will fund a grant to help someone battle cancer.
They recently helped a teacher with kids to pay for prescription costs. They helped support a young couple after she had 7 tumors removed and he stayed with her to look after her in hospital. Another example includes a waitress who can’t afford to pay for health insurance when she can no longer work due to chemotherapy. Simple things to me but incredibly stressful when you are out of work and undergoing chemo.
I know we all get many of these requests, but please consider donating here because every single penny goes to help, and will make a huge difference. $5, $10 or $50 it all helps, be it a day’s worth of medicine, or some breakfast cereal for the kids.
Thanks,
Eamon
