Early age heart attack ICU bills
Organized by: Rosa CORONA-ZAMBRANO
My husband, a healthy marathon runner..., suffered a heart attack. Luckily we had insurance, but unfortunately it did not cover time off from work or a large portion on his surgery. I always worked hard and did my very best to ensure that same employment that covered a good portion of my husbands medical bills however my request to take time off became an inconvenience to this company. I was unable to use my accrued sick because i was told that i could not predict that i would be sick, or that my husband want going to feel well. Anyway, long story short, i started getting harassed each time i had to take my husband to his appointments, and i took the lashings for a long time because i was just grateful that my husband survived. A 37 year old, marathon runner, with a then 10 month old son, suffered a heart attack due to plaque in his arteries that broke and caused two of them to collapse. The harassment from my job became so thick i started BPA counseling, i told my HR rep about the harassment regarding my husbands heart attack, my needing time to express milk for my baby, and little things here and there to push me out of my job. I was put on 8 anti depressant medications and anti anxiety meds JUST TO GO TO WORK and survive day by day. I would have filed suit, however a tort claim needed to be filed within 6 months of termination (i resigned as my HR rep advised me to do so because it would look better on my resume) it took me 7 months to get off of my medications and feel again. When i contacted lawyers, they told me about this rule nobody else bothered to tell me, that a tort claim myst be filed within 6 months. Now ive been blacklisted from working for the state, and now have thousands of dollars we still owe, my husband is still taking his medications that are over 100.00 a month. We have 4 children, and had it all, and are losing things little by little trying to payoff what we owe and keep afloat. I humbly come to this site as a last resort. I appreciate anything you can spare. Im waitressing, selling plasma, and my belongings that we hardly use, as well as clothes my children grow out of only to replace what i can with used clothing that fits from savers and other youth ranch type stores. My husband is thankfully back to work as well, but the money coming in doesn't cover what we feel behind during this scary and trying time in our lives.
