BENEFITING: FAMILIAL HYPERCHOLESTEROLEMIA FOUNDATION
Familial Hypercholesterolemia (FH) is an inherited form of high cholesterol which if untreated, can lead to premature cardiovascular disease and early death. I inherited FH from my father. My grandfather, father and uncles died from cardiovascular disease.
I was diagnosed with FH when I was about 5 years old. I have benefited greatly from this early diagnosis! I was one of the lucky ones because it is estimated that 90% of the millions of people living with FH are not aware that they have it.
I am raising funds for the FH Foundation to support them in their mission to spread awareness of FH. Early diagnosis saves lives and I want everyone with FH to benefit, as I have. If I have been a good friend, made you smile or taught you something, consider donating to this cause which means so much to me.
In memory of my beloved father, John Brennan Sweeney, who lived with FH and died from heart disease nearly twenty years ago.
Sadly, a fellow FH advocate passed away the weekend of May 1st from a heart attack at the age of 42. His name was Jason Matsui and this fundraiser is also dedicated to him.
