EVENT DATE Jul 01, 2016

THE STORY:

The Peace & Dignity Journey is an intercontinental, indigenous ceremonial run held every four year.  The participating runners are from various native and non native, communities.

Runners carry sacred staffs along the route.  These staffs represent the prayers of their communities and the run helps native people to reconnect to the traditional ways and their ancestral teachings.   It also is an opportunity to share the wisdom of their ways with all involved for the healing of mother earth and all life.

The run is divided by regions.  Each region will bring all the runners to a central merging point.  The regions are as follows:

  • Northern Region - represented by the Eagle.  Starts in Alaska and runs South;
  • Southern Region - represented by the Condor.  Starts in Tierra del Fuego and runs North;
  • The Caribbean Region - represented by the Hawk.  They merge with the Northern and Southern regions after their local routes.

This year's final gathering will take place in Panama and fulfills an ancient prophecy describing the union of the people of the Eagle (North) with the people of the Condor (South) and all of the native communities in between the hemispheres.

We are the Route of the Red Tail Hawk!

Our runners include Elders, young native students, mother's, father's and conscious defenders of the environment and social justice. In July 2016, we will be running the East Coast about 1000 miles from NY to GA and uniting with the main route in TX and on to Panama.  BUT WE NEED YOUR HELP!

The funds we are seeking will be used to purchase a 12 passenger van, fuel, food and water for the journey.  (The van will be used to carry supplies for the runners.)

Please GIVE generously to help our cause.  Every penny counts.  Many of us will be taking time off from school, work, children, and family to set our prayers and intentions in motion.

We do not receive corporate funding and we rely on the kind hearts and contributions from our friends and supporters.  Below is the link with more information on PDJ and the ways in which you can help:  http://eastcoastnypdj.wix.com/eastcoastnypdj
