THE STORY:

During the 2013-2014 school year, the EAST at Huntsville High School program created a Robotics team and competed in the USFIRST Robotics competition finishing fourth out of 39 schools from 11 different states. It was the first time a rookie team ever made it that far. Our team defeated teams sponsored by Boeing, NASA, Lockheed Martin, Google and a host of other corporations. We received a Rookie Grant from the competition and $500 from our electric company and $250 from our local teachers union. A local company made us a couple of gears and we had to borrow $2,000 to cover the rest of our entry fee.
This year we have to raise our own funds and our school has no money to help. Our team members have learned a great deal about engineering and programming and believe we can do better this year than we did last year if we can raise the entry fee and have enough money left over to buy new parts and cover our expenses to the tournament.
